It is one of the effective methods to reduce the earthquake disaster of multi-story and high buildings and achieve passive control of structure by assigning energy dissipation brace in the structure. On the basis of the wide investigation of the achievement home and abroad about the friction energy dissipation frame, this paper firstly expatiates the calculation model and restoring model of the friction energy dissipation brace, and secondly presents frame analysis theory of story model and element model on the basis of the characteristics of friction energy dissipation brace. By analyzing a 6-story frame under 3 different conditions which are moment-resistant frame, braced moment-resistant frame and energy-dissipation braced frame, through elastic and inelastic aseismatic analysis, it indicates: friction energy dissipation brace has the same effect with the common brace under small earthquake action, it can strengthen the structure's lateral stiffness. Friction energy dissipation brace can decrease the peak response of the structure sharply, and has obviously seismic vibration-suppressed effect under big earthquake action. This paper also has a comparative analysis of seismic vibration-suppressed effect for a 15-story frame under 3 different assigning modes, it indicates: assigning friction energy dissipation brace under the low 8 stories can achieve better earthquake resistance effect. And some suggestions are given for the friction energy dissipation brace design. At last, the seismic design principles and methods for structure with energy dissipaters are studied initially.
