The reciprocation machinery is important constituent of mechanism. Its theory is that electric motor give impetuses to crank, and the crank give impetuses to connecting rod. Through which the gyroscopic motion changes to reciprocal motion. The connecting rod movement impels the piston to make the reciprocal motion. For the reciprocation machinery, its work process is a non- steady impact vibration process, There have many differences with revolves in the steady vibration process. But in the failure diagnosis method, the reciprocation mechanism condition monitor system of domestic and foreign mostly was combined by attaching some monitor parameter of the reciprocation machinery based the foundation of revolves machinery monitor system. The design thought is still used vibration failure diagnosis method, that is completely same with revolves machinery monitor system.The important failure characteristic of the reciprocation type machinery is that the machine are always accompanied with the unusual vibration and the noise. Its vibration signal from the peak-to-peak value territory, the frequency domain and the time domain real-time has reflected the mechanical failure information. The vibration diagnosis technology precisely using the difference of the normal machine or the structure dynamic character (for example natural frequency, inspiring, transfer function and so on) with the unusual machine or the structure dynamic character, judges the machine or the structure whether having the failure.This paper has been done in the thorough research to the reciprocation type mechanical failure diagnosis technology theory and the realization method. It has conducted the certain research to the reciprocation type mechanical failure characteristic. And the reciprocation type machinery basic failure knowledge library has been established. The topic is to realize the on-line monitor and the failure diagnosis system development for the large-scale diaphragm pump Jianshan Iron Mineof Taiyuan Iron and Steel Company. The hypothesized instrument technology has been mainly used, namely realized through signal gathering, the enlargement and A/D transforms. The signal filter and analysis are realized by the software. It is finished through VC++ programming that the profile demonstration and diagnosis result demonstration, etc. The computer and its function of Matlab are used in signal filter and its analysis.The COM of Matlab modules are used for realizing transition in the VC++ procedure.The diaphragm pump on-line monitor and failure diagnosis installment used this paper theory and method has already been runed in Jianshan Iron Mine. The system is stable-runing, that prove this method can be used in reciprocation mechanical failure diagnosis.
