This subject is a national natural science foundation project-Research of Mechanical Fault Monitoring and Intelligent Diagnosis based onWireless Sensor Network (51075023).As one of the most important parts of industrial production system,rotating machinery and their operating condition have direct effects onstability and security of the whole system, thus it has great practicalsignificance to work out an effective monitoring method of rotatingmachinery. At present, there are mainly two monitoring method of rotatingmachinery: online monitoring method based on expert system and portablemonitoring terminal based on manned patrol. Relying too much on massivevibration signal acquisition and transmission, the first method has strictrequirements on data transmission rate and condition of surroundingenvironment. Meanwhile, confined to manned patrol, the second methodcan't meet the demand of monitoring in real-time. While, theabove-mentioned shortages can be covered by the design of intelligent data acquisition platform, which is based on embedded arm with RTAI+Linux asits software system. Vibration signal can be collected efficiently andmonitoring and diagnosis algorithm can be executed to identify operatingcondition of the rotating machinery, then the results would be sent to hostcomputer via ZigBee wireless sensor network, and the shortage of onlinemonitoring method and portable monitoring terminal can be covered.The intelligent data acquisition platform consists of four parts: vibrationsignal acquisition unit, signal conditioning unit, data processing unit andwireless data uploading unit. The vibration signal acquisition unit consists oftwo types of acceleration sensors with different measuring range andaccuracy, and the higher-accuracy data can be picked out dynamically as thefinal input by the design. The core parts of intelligent data acquisitionplatform is based on embedded ARM9E with RTAI+Linux as its softwaresystem, therefore, the ability of interrupt response and efficiency of datacommunication can be largely improved by dual-core design. The operatingcondition can be recognized and fault diagnosis can be achieved by theloaded monitoring and diagnosis algorithm. The results of conditionrecognition or fault data can be uploaded efficiently through wirelessnetwork.At last, further experiments and tests are conducted on vibrostand withrolling bearings as the monitoring objects. In the experiments and tests,functions of the intelligent data acquisition platform have been verified, and the results show that primary diagnosis can be achieved.
