CAD/CAM has been the foundation and an important part of advanced manufacturing technology, it has went deep into almost all fields of producing process, integration , network and intelligentize is it's direction of development.Feature is a function element which have project meaning get from highly generalize and abstract of project object. It is carrier and basic transmission unit of advanced information under integrated environment. It include both shape and function. Definition of feature is different in different areas. Feature modeling is a process of defining , describing parts model through feature and its muster. Feature its own is parameteral. Every position and dimension of shape feature could be easily modified through dimension drive and its attaching attribute will be modified follow it. Thus designers can dynamically , creatively develop new product according to their purpose. Feature modeling has advancer definition layer of design object. It can be easily understood and used by technicist and can supply process of design and manufacture with enough project, technics information. It is the key technique of integration and integration of CAD/CAM.According to the specific trait of own corporation or own field, secondary development of current CAD software to get a customizational, specializational and integrational software is one of important directions and hotspots of study.The thesis chooses UG as the developing platform and shaft parts as study object, research how to use secondary development tool UG/Open API to develop a CAD system of shaft parts on the basis of feature modeling theory under the environment of VC++. Then research how to set parameter under the CAM module of UG NX2 to generate toolpath and cutter source file of the shaft part. At last, in order to make the best use of the strong modeling function of UG and the strong analyse function of ANSYS, emphatically analyse how to import UG model into ANSYS, and then analyse the model in ANSYS.
