This subject for research is development and analysis of portal frame structural software design(a part of 03-5-019 projects authorized by the Ministry of Construction P.R.China ). This paper has carry on detailed analysis to structure characteristic and receive strength performance of plane portal frame, and has discussed relevant problems of working out plane portal frame software design.The development of this software regards VisualC ++6.0 as the development environment. The method of Object Oriented Programing was been adapted. We derive user interface class from the Microsoft Foundtion Class library, such as dialogs and resources, and derive entities from objectARX class library, and customize some class used todo other functions . In this way , we can syncretize the data and the operation on thosedata.The full paper divides into eight chapters altogether: Chapter 1 to chapter 3 introduced the relevant theoretical foundations of the software design , including structure characteristic of portal frame , establishment background , programming tool and relevant knowledge of method of finite element; Chapter 4 explained in detail about pre-processor, mainly including set up portal frame model and loading conduction; Chapter 5 recommended the calculation of internal force of the portal frame in the procedure and component checking part; Chapter 6 discussed the relevant problems of the post-processor; Chapter 7 and chapter 8 prove the operation method of pre-processor by one example and finally give some suggestions about structure programming.
