As an important method of improving energy efficiency, Demand Side Management(DSM) is drawing more and more attention. In this thesis, several key problems in DSMapplications are studied in detail as follows:(1) The electricity demand curve and its modeling method are introduced, theelectricity demand elasticity towards electricity price is analyzed, and the price basedDSM optimization models suitable to the current power system and electricity marketoperation are proposed, respectively.(2) Based on the theory of DSM cost-benefit analysis, DSM cost-benefit and itssensitivity analysis program is developed, by which two common DSM schemes, i.e.high efficiency light and air conditioner cycling, are studied in detail.(3) In the light of the interconnection of national power grid, a novel coordinatedDSM scheme with hierarchical structure for interconnected power systems is proposed inorder to improve its operation efficiency.
