The extended project of Yingna River Reservoir is the key project in Dalian city, which has been paid great attention by every level government of Dalian city as well as our institute from the project suggestion to the design of the blueprint. Because of the lack of reservoir-enhance project in China, especially there is no precedent under the circumstance of storing water, so there are a lot of things need to be designed, for example what the influence of the extended project of the new dam, whether the new and old dams can be seen as a unit or what is the interaction of these factors.We adopt the calculating theory of finite element simulation stress and model of dam simulation in order to solve the various problems during the process of enhancement of the dams. It is very important to analyse the status of stress-improvement of the dam. This essay will research on the theory and methods of darn's expansion and enhancement.1) To simulate the process of expansion and enhance of the dam, based on the finite element calculating principle on temperature field and stress of concrete.2) To adopt some project measures by using finite element simulation calculating result to anaylse the distribution and status of the dam. For example, we can use slop and stones to enhance the dam and adulterate some addictive into the concrete in order to reduce the amount of cement and lower the temperature stress. Furthermore, we will leave the space for winter on the water-blocking dam where lead to prolong the work term. Compared with the continuous enhance of the dam without leaving the space for winter, the former can reduce the effect of the temperature stress. On the other hand, to leave the wide slot on the dam can make the pouring of the dam be free from the side. The shrinking of the dam has little influence on the base of the upper river. The use of the wide slots play very important role in the considerable reduction of the stress. Moreover, using water in the reservoir to keep warm, adding ice block in the water to lower the temperature are also effective ways. According to the large area of stress, we can pour concrete on the upper river and increase the level of anti-infiltration.3) The successful enhance project of the dam provide great experience to the project on expansion and enhancement of the dams without lowering the water level, which is first used in China. From the analytical result of the observation, these measures are successful.
