It is most serious flow and slip caused by earthquake in all kinds of accidents of the tailing dam, and with the becoming heavy constantly of the scale of tailing dam, if the earthquake takes place, the calamity will be unable to estimate. Therefore studying the stability of tailing dams seems particularly urgent and essential. But at present this kind of job done is actually few. So this text carries out the work in this respect mainly, carry out the simulation of the stability of tailing dams.In this text, using Lixigou tailing dam, Jinduicheng as research object, narratting the basic situation of Lixigou tailing dam, utilizing the surveying and drawing of geology engineering in field, in-situ test, geotechnological testing and physical prospecting achievement in–situ test to determine the physical and mechanical property index of Li Xi tailing dam; utilizing Geo-slope software to set up the simplified 2D model, dividing the net of unit, confirming the condition of border and loading, choosing the parameter of calculating, adopting non-linear visco-plasticity model to analyze the response to the earthquake, and analyzing the response to the earthquake with coupling earthquake and seepage. Through comparing with acceleration, stress, displacement, pressure and liquefaction area, can obtain:(1) The seepage has certain influence on nodal acceleration. And the larger permeability coefficient, the smaller acceleration response.(2) The stress field before coupling seepage and earthquake is similar with the stress field after coupling seepage and earthquake in the position of tailing dam the permeability coefficient is smaller; Two kinds of situations above is very different in the position of tailing dam the permeability coefficient is bigger. And the relation curve of the stress and time is very different before and after coupling seepage and earthquake.(3) The displacement field of tailing dam is similar before and after coupling seepage and earthquake. But the larger permeability coefficient, the bigger displacement. And the relation curve of the displacement and time is very different from before and after coupling seepage and earthquake.(4) The pore water pressure field before coupling seepage and earthquake is similar with the stress field after coupling seepage and earthquake in the position of tailing dam the permeability coefficient is smaller; Two kinds of situations above is very different in theposition of tailing dam while the permeability coefficient is bigger. And the relation curve of pore water pressure and time is similar before and after coupling seepage and earthquake, but the pore water pressure after coupling increases more fast.(5) The relation curve of pore water pressure and time before and after coupling is similar. And the pore water pressure decreases fast while the permeability coefficient is larger(6) The liquefaction area will be influenced greatly weather considering seepage, and the permeability coefficient also influences the liquefaction area.(7) Li Xi tailing dam will be liquefied partly, might enable dam come down in earthquake. Utilizing Sliding Block Analysis,the stability of slope and deformation of tailing dam is analyzed; Obtaining the relation curve of factor of safety and time and the relation curve of deformation and time.
