As the manual side slope which needs to be built by the tailing pool project, there exists the fatalness of stability-loss even coast in the course of the tailing dam. However, the tailing pool in our country have such characteristics as large amount, large scale, low building standards, low technical levels of dam, maintaining and management, and also those plenty of fault tailing pool which can not get effective treatment. It is in a bad safety condition. Besides, the geographical location of some tailing pool is of great importance, and some are located at the upper part of important riverhead, and some others lie in the upper part of important public facilities, and also others are at the upper part of the dense residential areas. Once the dam collapses, it will cause fatal people's casualties and wealth loss, and at the same time bring hypo-generated disasters such as very serious environmental pollutions. Therefore, it is of great significance to grasp the tailing dam stability comprehensively and objectively.Ansys and the civilfem based on it can help make a seepage condition analysis on the dam, get the hydraulic pressure distributing of the dam holes, and apply the results directly to the analysis of the side slope stability, enabling the simulation result to be more practical. In addition, Ansys/civilfem can help get easily and clearly the results like the dam sleek surface and safety parameters based on the extreme balance and finite element method.The analysis and estimate of the stability of the tailing dam should be a dynamic process, for in the course of tailing pool, the tailing dam itself and its surroundings are a dynamic and changeable process. On the basis of this thought and Beijing Shouyun iron ore and Shangyu tailing pool east dam as the research object, the paper takes advantage of big commerce software Ansys and the second-developed Civilefem based on Ansys to carry out simulation and analysis of the stability of the tailing dam condition, the stability of design and level of the tailing dam, the influence on the dam stability of the slope, the influence on the dam stability of the height, the influential trend of the height on the dam on the condition of different slopes, the slope stability after earthquake load and the influence of the dam material anti-intension and hardness-lowering on the dam stability.
