The frame-supported shear wall structures with transfer stories located at different height responses differently to ground motion. The seismic behavior of frame-supported shear wall structures is also dependent on the ratio of stiffness. Furthermore, the structures will come into elastic-plastic phase under major earthquake and the elastic-plastic seismic responses of the structures show great difference comparing with elastic seismic responses. In this paper, the elastic seismic responses of frame-supported shear wall structures are investigated first. The seismic responses of structures with different numbers of modes are calculated and the reasonable number of modes is confirmed. The elastic time history analysis of structures with transfer stories located at different height is accomplished and the results are discussed. By changing the ratio of stiffness, this paper sums up the effect of ratio of stiffness on seismic behavior of frame-supported shear wall structure. Then, a push-over analysis of seismic performance in strong earthquake is completed and the seismic ability and failure of the structure is investigated. In the last, the methodology for performance based seismic design is discussed. The analytical results indicate that the displacement and rotation in any two adjacent stories change greatly along with the changing of the setting locations of transfer story. And the displacement and rotation of story can be controlled effectively by adjusting the ratio of stiffness.
