To meet the market demand, a new medium-speed X6170Z diesel enginewas designed and developedby Weichai Power CO., Ltd based on worldwidelyadvanced technology. The rated power of X6170Z diesel engine with 4-valve,in-line, four-stroke, turbocharged and inter-cooled, "ω" combustion chamber,double-cycle water cooling and pressure lubrication is 330kW, the rated speedis 1000r/min, and the brake specific fuel consumption is 204g/kW.h.In this dissertation, all systems and main components of X6170Z dieselengine, such as cooling system, lubricating system, valve system, gear train,fuel supply system, turbo-charge system, engine block, crankshaft, pistons,connecting rods and cylinder covers were carefully designed to achieve thedesign parameters.Focusing on power, brake specific fuel consumption and emission, manyperformance tests on turbocharger, fuel injection pump and injector assemblywere carried out, meanwhile the construction of the main components whichhad influence on the reliability of diesel engine was optimized using FEAmethod.Through a series of designs and performance tests, X6170Z diesel enginemeets the design requirements on rated power, brake specific fuel consumption,emissions and reliability. At present, it has become the leading product ofmedium speed engine in Weichai and has high market share, and the productioncapacity is 2000 annually.
