Finite element method (FEM) is a strong numerical analysis method. It wasdeveloped during 60's and 70's twenty century. It makes many complex engineeringproblems easy to be solved. Because of the development of the preprocessor and postprocessor methods, the computing efficiency becomes more and more high. So theFinite element method (FEM) is becoming more and more popular.ANSYS is great general finite element analysis software which is includingstructure, thermodynamics, fluid, electromagnetism, sound field and coupling field.ANSYS users are distributed in mechanism, energy, transport, construction, electron, biology, education and so on. ANSYS has become a general analysis platform in thetechnique intercommunion of design technique in the international and national arena.A large platform structure (CEPA) will be manufactured and shifted to ship in a6000t slideway. CEPA platform is about 7000t weight, whose supporting structure isabout 850t. Thus, the whole weight is over 8000t, which includes the weight of thetackle. This weight has gong beyond the design allowances. In order to guard the safeof the CEPA platform while shifting to ship, a safety checking computation is needed.Because of the advantages of FEM and ANSYS, this paper analyzes the sidewayand dock structure during the large platform is shifted to a ship with the FEM throughANSYS. And the conclusion is given according to the FEM analysis.
