In this paper, the object of theoretical investigation and system development is themachining process of the chamfering on the end of splines which are on thecomponents of the automobile sychronizers. This process is one of the key workingprocedures of the automobile synchronizer manufacture. The setup time is long andthe manufacturing accuracy is low because of the lack of theoretic support. As a resultof studying and practising, the main content and achievements of this paper is:Firstly, the geometric model of the chamfering machining process is founded asthe result of study of the mechanism and shaping process of the chamfering. Theconclusion of the investigation is that not all the pose adjustment parameters of thecutting tool are relative to the machining outcome. The flat chamfering depends onthe angle adjustment parameters, while the camber chamfering depends on theposition adjustment parameters. Base on this conclusion the relation between thecutting tool adjusting parameters of the chamfering machine and the geometricparameters of the chamfering in different form is investigated. The algorithm onwhich the adjustment parameters can be worked out according to the geometricparameters of the chamfering is derivated.Base on the theoretical investigation, the calculation and simulation system forthe cutting adjustment parameters of the chamfering machine is developed accordingto the mathematical reverse solvement model. Firstly, the requirement and function ofthe system is analysed according to the mathematical model, and then the structure ofthe system is designed with several appropriate development tools selected. Base onthe tools and the theoretical investigation coclusion the system is developed. In thispaper, 3D modeling and programming technology used in system development isintroduced. It's shown by practice that the system can shorten the setup time andimprove the working accuracy observably.In addition, the machining outcome's sensitivity to the affecting factors isdiscussed in this paper. The geometric models and mathematical models in differentchamfering form are analysed. In practice, the experimentation and calculation insimple method is carried on. The findings can impove the machining accuracy further.Because the figure of the automobile sychronizers spline is as the same as theinvolute spur gear, the conclusion of this paper is applicable to the chamferingmachining process of the common involute spur gear.
