Geographic information system (GIS), is a new developing integrative technologyincluding computer science, geography, mapping science, information andmanagement science. Because of GIS having strong capability of data analysis andspace analysis, it has been widely applied to the management of electrical distributionsystem, and become one of the key technologies of automation of electricaldistribution system. Utilizing the powerful ability of spreading information of Internet,WebGIS system is one of the study focus in the field of automation of electricaldistribution system. The optimization of reactive power is one of the effective means to guaranteeingthe security and economical operation and also the important measures to improve thequality voltage for electrical distribution system. The contribution of this thesis is as follows: It has proposed and realized a new and easily extendable WebGIS for theinformation management of electrical distribution system based on commercialplatform ArcIMS. This system owns all of the GIS function, including: scaling, hawkeyes, inquiring, adding, revising, deleting, managing mass space data and attributiondata. Also it can be used for looking around and transferring through Internet. The flexible database structure for the WebGIS system has been designed andrealized. This database structure has characteristic of integrality and security, and canbe added or deleted any equipment according to the practical change. The communication link has been designed and realized to integrate the relatedadvanced analysis and calculation function conveniently. One high-efficient and advanced adapted immune algorithm has beenrecommended for reactive power optimization of electrical distribution system. Theexamples tested indicate that no matter the performance of seeking excellent point orcomputation speed, the reactive power optimization of electrical distribution systembased on adapted immune algorithm is superior to that based on genetic algorithm andgeneral immune algorithm.Reactive power optimization module has been integrated into WebGIS as one ofcalculation modules, it leads to the mergence of reactive power optimization andapparatus management of WebGIS and the clearance of result showing of reactiveoptimization. It increases the practicability of this system.
