As China's adjacent country, Korean culture and art is deeply affected by China but at the same time Korea has developed its own special culture and art type. Korean architecture is deeply afftected by China's Buddhism , Yin and yang,Five-Elements philosophy , Feng shui and Confucianism. Korean traditional houses obeyed the rules of living with the nature. From China's Ming Dynasty Korean traditional houses almost didn't affted by China and developed towards its own direction,it's details were more detailed and the outlook of the houses were more unchangeable. The development of Chosun Period was the most mature one.This paper is devided into two sections. The first section mainly studies on the space characters of the upper-class houses of Chosun Period, emphasizes on space types , arrangements , size and decoration , the relationship of sapce and family life, space shape and characters and the affect of the family beliefs etc.The second section is about the comparison of the traditional Korean houses and Chinese houses, from the factors that affected these two countries' houses development, the layout, elevation and space constitution to structure and constuction etc, and tries to find the relationship of the two countries' traditional houses. This study hopes to contribute to China and Korea's understanding and cooperation of each other.
