With the rapid development of engineering construction, the structure ofretaining wall is changing quickly. Balancing weight retaining wall has uniquestructure format which is balance platform, it can make use of the weight of fillingabove it and the deadweight of wall body to keep it's stablization, well-propotioneddistributing the pressure above groundwork, cut down the dosage of material and thequantity of excavate and backfill of groundwork,hold up collapsing and dropping rockwith the biggish hold room above balance platform. With these advantage ofbalancing weight retaining wall, it has been applyed widely to the constructing ofrailway, highway,water conservancy and industrial and civilian constructon. However,the routine design of balancing weight retaining wall need plentiful times andhumen,because for achieving safe and economical sectional view,repeating checkingcomputaions is required. As well as this result is achieved without adequatelyconsidering some factor which can affect the design and calculating process,i.e. it isnot the oriental result of balancing weight retaining wall design. So it is important andnecessarily to optimize the design of balancing weight retaining wall and rechieve theglobal oriental result.In this paper ,some questions of earth pressure calculating on the design ofbalancing weight retaining wall have been discussed on the base of retaining walldesign theory inside and outside our country and Coulomb and Rankin earth pressuretheory. These question include earth pressure calculating of clay,friction angle of thewall back,slope angle of the wall back,the distribution curve of earth pressure,theformat of the fracture surface of filling behind wall and the second fracture surfacemethod and so on. And some earth pressure calculating formula of commonly andespecially terms have been analysed and deduced in this paper. The general design ofbalancing weight retaining wall has been disccused which includes earth pressurecalculating of general design, stability checking computations, several commonquestion of designning and the structure format and laying principle when it is used tosome engineering in this paper. Paper also has analysed some factor which can affectthe design process and result which are groundwater, abnormity load above fillingsurface behind wall, earthquake effect and strike load and so on. And then, on thebasis of balancing weight retaining wall design theory which is disccused, optimizedesignning modal is conformated. After comparing and choosing optimize designmethods which are used often to engineering design, Improved Decimalist GeneticAlgorithm is adopted, with the help of excellent body clone+child body prepotencytechnology, the section view of balancing weight retaining wall is searched globly ,sooptimize design is achieved. With these basis, program which can use to general andoptimize design of balancing weight retaining wall is designed with VB6.0 andAutoCAD. With the comparing of general and optimize design of somg typical case,the practicability of program and the effection of optimize design has been proved.
