This paper chooses the marine diesel engine MAN B&W 12K90MC-C as the simulating object, and builds its physical and mathematical models. The working process of the diesel engine has been simulated, including suction, compression, combustion, expansion and exhaustion, the turbocharger and the cooler. Then, the normal working parameters of this engine can be simulated, such as the compression pressure, maximum combustion gas pressure, and effective pressure and so on. At the same time, the working parameter curves of the diesel engine have been shown, for example, the p_z - V_z, p_z - φ , T_z -φ etc.The paper selects the universal operating system of Windows as the working platform and utilizes the Objected-Oriented Technique in agreement with the idea of modern software engineering as the way of modeling. The author develops the main engine system simulation software called EngineSimulation2005 in the environment of Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0.The developing process of the simulation software EngineSimulation2005 can be described as following: Firstly, utilize the Objected-Oriented Technique to categorize the main engine system into many child objects to achieve certain functions, and compile every object to a class in the programming language C++. These classes are not visual from the outside, and they exchange data and function only through the outer joints. Secondly, in the environment of Visual C++ 6.0, with the help of many kinds of graph making tools, form a lot of simulation interfaces which can ensure some functions about simulation operating and displaying. Finally, through the real time simulation database and some simulation functions, connect the simulation interfaces effectively with those computing classes to realize the simulation software EngineSimulation2005.The software EngineSimulation2005 successfully applies the Objected-Oriented Technique to the establishment of simulation models and simplifies the modeling process, proving that it is possible to develop a great simulation system in the platform Windows 2000.This paper has also done several typical fault simulations of the engine system, which can be vividly shown on the graphs. The parameters of the failure settings can be compared with that of the rated condition. Then the failure phenomena and its reasons and traits can be apparently realized, estimated and analyzed.
