As a hybrid spatial structure combined with rigid and flexible components, it is widely applied for its various arrangement and beautiful shape with great mechanical ability. The main study of this paper is based on a roof system with a new structure style — a suspended cable system hanging with a rigid steel roof. It is located in zijingang campus of Zhejiang University as a Gymnasium. The shape analysis, simulation of construction process and the seismic behavior of the roof system are the major focal contents of the paper. The paper briefly introduced the criterion of structural stability, static-kinematic analysis and the calculation of total feasible prestress in detail in the frontal part. After the judgment of stability of this gym, the conclusion that this system is geometrically stable in a reasonable prestress condition was put forward. Since the effective modification of the structural shape was made because that the initial structure failed to gain a satisfied total feasible prestress, the paper got the final prestress distribution of the structure include the effect of gravity. The thesis put forward the construction simulation of the structure in detail. Based on the basic cable theory, the paper set forth a compatible equation based on the catenary cable element model which can be used for the calculation of cable's unelongated length, and then use it for getting the initial length of the cable. Based on this result, the construction process was split into a couple of substeps, and every steps' geometric coordinates and components' force were put forward. The discussion of the features of the construction process is followed. The dynamic features of the structure is also discussed in this thesis. The result shows that the natural frequency is pretty small at around 0.4Hz.The vibration modes, displacement and force response were presented by the seismic analysis using mode-superposition in the finite element analysis software. And the force response indicates the system is function normally in the ordinary earthquake situation. The main conclusions are summarized and the problems that to be studied further are list in the end of the thesis.
