Hollow section structures have been widely used in the world for their outstanding advantages. Both the design and the fabrication of the connections between the hollow section members are the key points in hollow section structure. The detailed classification of tubular joints and the research status of direct welded joints and reinforced joints are summarized in this paper. The scheme of reinforced with doubler plate is proposed by preventing shearing failure. In this study, firstly the numerical analytical model is verified by a referenced full scale experimental result. Secondly by a set of orthogonal experimental analysis of T tubular joints reinforced with doubler plate, it is concluded that under the brace axial load each factors to the strengthening effect of the reinforced plate is β>η_p >ξ_p >γ. Omitting the secondary factor, the effect of other parameters to the compressive behavior of joints are studied by another set of species in aspect of load-displacement curves, characteristic of plastic development and failure deformation , dimension effect of reinforced plate. Based on the regressive analysis of these numerical calculations, an empirical function of φp is acquired which is helpful in the implement of this reinforced scheme in engineering practice. Under the brace in-plane moment, the characteristics of joints plastic development are illustrated. In general, a satisfaction strengthening can be acquired by selecting a proportioned reinforced plate.
