The Tectonic Theory Of Architecture Space And Its Teaching Experience In Architectural Education

The art of architecture is different from the others, which is based on the space concept. Nowadays there are various comprehensions on the space and analysis of architecture design. Many educators are trying to embed space architecture concept in the university classes, inspiring students' talent by activities.Space concept method provides totally novel way to architecture design education. The main idea of this method is analyzing the commonness of the architecture design space, such as space factors, type and sequence of space, different modes, and function of the architecture, indoor and outdoor environment, and architectural materials and so on. The sound and open education system consists of many unique parts, which corresponds to the previous mentioned commonness. And this is the very first time to illustrate this kind of education system.This article has 5 sections. The first section focuses on the basic concept of architecture space and tectonic, and summarizes the theory of tectonic, and then analyzes of tectonic design in modernism and the influence to architecture education. It briefly presents the current design idea of architecture, which affects on the acknowledgment of space and architecture methods, some key questions elaborates about the teaching background, teaching method, project types etc. And then summarize the educational experience of architecture systematically all over the world. Then it introduces the Tectonic education method of the "System design project" in our university. The education method of our university separated the architecture space design to six facets. The step-to-step training schedule concentrates on developing the ability of grasping different techniques of space design. Through a practice of tectonic real space, the students have an experience. At last, it presents my personal idea and assumption of how to apply this new education method to architecture actual work.
