It is an important problem for the engineering construction,subgrade and foundation sciences that how to resolve the disadvantageous influence (such as deforming greatly and crack etc.) of the superstructure caused by ground differential settlement. The essential aspects,the influence on the superstructure and some control measures about differential settlement for building foundation are analyzed in this thesis.Not only has it the important theoretical meaning on science,but the important engineering application value.1. The present status about researches on differential settlement and control is summarized. Three essence aspects of differential settlement for building foundation are analyzed. Some control measures of differential settlement for building foundation are presented according to the design code of building foundation and related information.2. The influence on static and dynamic characteristics of the superstructure caused by ground differential settlement are analyzed. The influence on deformation and internal forces of the superstructure caused by ground differential settlement are analyzed by using the finite element software ANSYS. The Crystal Stone Lobby of Juvenile Palace in a city is calculated as an example. Several load cases are studied,and the results show that the differential settlement of the basement effects the deformation and internal forces of the superstructure. Three-dimensional finite model of a high building is carried out by the commonly used analysing software ANSYS. Dynamic behavior and seismic analysis are studied on the different settlement building. The results show that it should not be neglected for the influence of earthquake action on the superstructure displacement and acceleration time-history due to the different settlement. Furthermore, the higher the structure,the more obvious the effect. Dynamic behavior and seismic response are not only decided by the stiffness of structure and the character of earthquake,but also by the different settlement.3. The finite element method simulating ground(or pile ground) with three- dimensional elastic support are developed in order to investigate the influence of the ground differential settlements on the superstructure,which could integrally analyze the interaction among structure,foundation and ground.This paper compare three- dimensional elastic support with the elastic support model and immobility model for the example of the Crystal Stone Lobby of Juvenile Palace in a city with the ANSYS software of FEM. The method of the three-dimensional elastic support can fastly analyse the reaction for the superstructure.4. A new kind of building rectifying control thought was put forward. The influence on deformation and internal forces of the superstructure caused by ground differential settlement are tested.At the same time,the measure of building rectifying control was used. The method has been proved rational. The steel structure model are analyzed with simulation and experiment.
