The soil constitutive model have been studied for a long time. The deformation of soil is nonlinear, rheology, anisotropy, shear dilatancy characteristics, when subjected to external load due to its complexity. Resulting in the development of hundreds of constitutive model in practical application in the process of the ubiquitous limitations. In order to further promote the development of the constitutive theory of soil, this paper mainly from the following aspects.Firstly, this paper systematically introduces the Duncan-Chang model which is widely used in the field of geotechnical engineering. The model can completely describe the main deformation characteristics of the soil. And its model parameters have clear physical meaning that can be determined by conventional triaxial test. Therefore, Duncan-Chang model has been widely used in geotechnical engineering.Secondly, this paper introduces professor Lu Yingfa's new constitutive model, including the parameters of basic equations, a new constitutive model of the decision, the correlation coefficient and the model characteristics. A new constitutive model reveals the currently in geotechnical engineering in existing different types of constitutive model of mathematical basis and associated assumption. It's a new attempt for this new constitutive model to establish a unified theory of geotechnical model for a complicated mechanical properties of rock and soil materials.Thirdly, in this paper, we use Duncan-Chang model and the new constitutive model to calculate the same test case, and the results of the calculation of the two constitutive models have achieved satisfactory results. Finally, ABAQUS realized Duncan-Chang model and a new constitutive model of secondary development in this paper, and the development of Duncan-Chang model and a new constitutive model has been introduced to simulate the same test to verify the applicability of the two constitutive models, so as to find new methods in the research of soil constitutive models.
