Design reuse is a technology to support the rapid design with the reuse of previous design resources. The CAD systems for domain developed by design reuse technology can shorten the design period and enhance the product quality. To meet the requirement of welding fixture design in aeronautic engineering, design reuse key technologies for welding fixture design are researched, and the main contents and achievements are as followed:1. A model of design reuse for aeronautic welding fixture design is proposed, which is separated into three levels including design process reuse, parts or components reuse and feature reuse.2. The design process reuse for aeronautic welding fixture design has been researched. A welding fixture design process model has been build by the Directed Graph technology, based on which the design process wizard encapsulating the parameter and assembly relation between design actions has been developed.3. The parts or components reuse for the aeronautic welding fixture design has been researched. The parts and components library has been build by Main Parameter. At the same time, the tools for instantiation and instance modification have been developed.4. The design reuse technology based on feature has been researched. The Domain Feature and Management Feature in welding fixture design have been represented. More over, the tools for the features reuse have been realized.5. The welding fixture design reuse system has been developed based on the above key technologies and CATIA, which has been applied in the aeronautic engineering, and has proved efficiency.
