With the development of transportation in China, road traffic accidents happen more and more frequently, they severely impair people's lives and industry. Driving fatigue (DF) is one of the main causes of accidents, it leads to 10% of them. So, study on generation of DF and how to abate it is significant to the reducing of traffic accidents.Based on ergonomics theory, diver behavior and DF generative process is analyzed. An evaluation method for DF based on physiological signals is generalized and developed. Sound is taken as an example to explore its influence on DF, and the way for reducing fatigue is searched. The perception, estimation, action process of driving would bring certain load to driver and DF generates, based on this, an ergonomics model of DF generative process is created, the influencing factors of DF are analyzed and classified according to their effect. The relation between DF and physiological signals is analyzed, an evaluation method for DF based on physiological signals is generalized and developed. DF results on a lot of factors, an experiment table for simulated driving is built to explore the factor's effect on DF. Subjective questionnaire and physiological signal are used to record the change of driver's heart rate (HR), breath rate (BR) and surface electromyogram (sEMG). The result shows that HR, BR, sEMG of loin can be used to describe DF and the average of HR and BR drops, sEMG raises during driving process. Sound is one of the most important influencing factors of DF. Orthogonal design, subjective questionnaire and physiological signal measurement are used to research sound intensity, frequency and rhythm's impact on DF. The result shows that the grade of DF is different under different sound simulation. variance analysis shows that sound intensity affects DF mostly, following with rhythm and frequency. The results of the research provide the first-hand data about DF and it also supplies a more objective reference and method of DF study. It is significant to the reducing of DF.
