Shear wall is the main part of the aseismic structures. It takes about 80 percent of seismic function in frame-shear structures and takes about 80 percent of seismic function in steel-concrete structures. It is the most widely used structure in buildings. So it is urgent to develop a new kind of shear wall which has better seismic behavior. The main contents are listed as follows:1. In this paper, mid-rise shear wall with concealed truss has been brought forward. This new composite shear wall includes two kinds of composition. One is composition of two bearing systems-truss and shear wall and the other is composition of two materials-steel and concrete. So it is a double composite shear wall. Experimental study and theoretic analysis on the seismic behavior of this new shear wall have been done in this paper.2. The experimental study on the seismic behavior of six mid-rise shear walls with 1/3 scale and shear-span ratio 1.85 has been done. The six mid-rise shear walls include a shear wall with steel frame, a shear wall with steel truss, a shear wall with steel frame-steel bar truss, a shear wall with steel bar truss, a shear wall with steel-steel bar truss and a usual one. Based upon the experimental study, the stiffness and its attenuation, bearing capacity, ductility, hysteretic property, energy dissipation and failure phenomena of each shear wall with different design parameters are contrastively analyzed and the seismic mechanism of this new shear wall has been opened out. 3. Based on the studying result, the mechanical models and formulas of bearing capacity and stiffness of mid-rise shear wall with steel truss are established. The results obtained from the formulas and those from experiment are in good agreement. The resilience model is also been suggested.4. Some suggestions for seismic tectonic measure of shear wall with concealed steel bar truss have been presented. And some advice for seismic design of this new shear wall has been put forward.Compared with the usual shear wall, shear wall with concealed steel bar truss have the following advantages:1. Cracking load, yield load and ultimate load are obviously higher.2. Yield stiffness is evidently improved and the speed of stiffness attenuation is slower.3. Its hysteretic curve is plumper, its ductility coefficient and energy dissipation...
