With the computer technology development, the microcomputer uses in the relay protection becoming one kind of inevitable trend. The microcomputer protective device has rapidly replaced the electromagnetic relay, the integrated circuit and the transistor protective device by its unique superiority. The new microcomputer protective device and the advanced protection algorithm is weeding through the old to bring forth the new unceasingly, and is making the improvement and the consummation unceasingly to the original microcomputer protective device. The present paper introduction is the research process that the author take the DS80C320 Single-Chip Microcomputer as the core to development teaching and experiment installation of relay protection.First ,the paper introduces the development tendency of the microcomputer relay protection, including at present popular hardware architecture and correlation protection algorithm. Secondly, introduced the characteristic of the DS80C320 Single-Chip Microcomputer and the superiority of performance that compare to MCS-51, and Proved the feasibility that selected DS80C320 to be the control core, and elaborated why didn't select DSP and so on a more advanced micro controller to be the core. Finally, this article detailed elaborated to the hardware design from the aspect of signal adjusting, analog quantity simulation, man-machine interface and so on. Because the generator microcomputer protection is a systems engineering, the present paper only conducts the research to algorithm and the software programming of electric current main protection and the reserve protection. The generator loss magnetism and rotor grounding is not researched in this topic.This teaching test installation of generator microcomputer protection based on the 80C320 Single-Chip Microcomputer has done correlation experiment on the laboratory 5KW...
