With the development of Microprocessor, embedded system, network communication technology and the principle of microcomputer-based relay protection, traditional experiment equipments for relay protection have no longer met the needs of teaching and research. To solve the problem, this paper develops a kind of general experiment system for microcomputer-based relay protection. It can be used for the protection of electric transmission lines and main equipments. DSP and PC/104 have made as core in hardware design. In software design, object-oriented C++ programming has been adapted to develop computer control and multimedia teaching system. To realize operation principle, C programming language in embedded Linux has also been used. As the software core of microcomputer-based relaying, algorithm principle is also the emphasis of discussion in the paper.
