Carbon was investigated in estuary of the Huanghe River and Laizhou Bay. Based on the data, the behavior of the particulated organic carbon content in Size-fractioned Total Suspended Solids during water and silt diversion test in the Huanghe River and the behavior of the carbon in Laizhou Bay were discussed. The main conclusions are followed:1. During water and silt diversion test in the Huanghe River, the weight percentage of particulate organic carbon (POC%) in TSS of the freshwater ranged from 0.6% to 0.4% for fine particles (﹤8μm and 8-16μm), for 16-32μm particles the value was below 0.2%; and for 32-63μm and﹥63μm particles the values were only 0.05% and 0.005% respectively, more than 80% of POC are concentrated in the fine particles (﹤16μm) while over 95% of POC were concentrated in particles of size 32μm. And the daily POC fluxes to the sea in size-fractioned TSS were estimated in June,2005,2. During water and silt diversion test in the Huanghe River, much freshwater were imported into Laizhou Bay. The Salinity in the Laizhou Bay was under 30; The variation between PIC% and TSS is same; And the distribution of the DOC was influenced by the evolution of the Laizhou Bay; POC was increased with the increasing of TSS concentration in the bottom, but in the surface water, there are two slopes between POC and TSS.3. In September, 2005, because of the increasing of the Xiaoqinghe River, much contamination was imported into Laizhou Bay. DOC concentration was decreased from South-west to North-west, and there was a ligule distribution in the adjacent estuary of the Xiaoqinghe River. And there was also two slopes between POC and TSS.4. The diffuse range of freshwater in Laizhou Bay was minished with the decreasing of the...
