Compared with level and upward belt conveyor, when downward belt conveyor is unloaded or loaded less, main electric motor' s running state is able to be motor-driven. When loaded or loaded more, main electric motor' s running state is able to be generating electricity. Corresponding protecting measures must be taken under different running state of main electric motor' s, or the belt will break and fly out at a tremendous speed and bring enormous damages to production. This project puts forward that key techniques about downward belt conveyor are to improve running state and reinforce control to starting and braking acceleration. Therefore, based on analyzing and researching running characteristic and researching the present condition about downward belt conveyor in domestic and international, this project clarifies that it has become the urgent demand of the mining machine market to further research and develop advanced, dependable, adaptable and efficient downward belt conveyor.The total design is the foundation in designing downward belt conveyor. This project introduces the static designing method briefly, and then clarifies the necessity of the kinetic designing method. It points out the accuracy of the kinetic designing method by an applied example. Since the driving system of downward belt conveyor can provide adjustable, smooth and no impulse starting and braking torque. This project analyzes and compares functions and characteristics about several controllable starting and braking devices in common use in domestic and international, and states the importance to choose controllable starting and braking devices.
