Nowadays the world has stepped into a newly development period. With the globalization and the break through of information and traffic technology, the production modes of capitalism has transitted from the Fordism into the Post-fordism, and the new laboring terrains have come into being. Also with the ending of the Cold War in 1980s, economic elements expanding rapidly to the whole world, the"space of flows"has replaced the"space of places". The division of nations has weakened, while the regions revived. Driven by the globalization and the New Information Technogy Revolution, the development of urban cities and the advancement of urbanization process have been faced with a total new developing pattern. As the impacts of globalization have deepened gradually, so the change and influence of urban cities, as the strategic nodes, have become increasingly important. The urban geography should perfect and vary its research scopes, expand the research scales, and explore the urban geographical laws from the angle of global level. The traditional geography system has also faced a great challenge under this huge transformation.On the basis of consulting, generalizing and absorbing the geographical scholoars'monographs and teaching materials in China, through comparing and evaluating systems of current urban geography courses, this dissertation attempts to point out that the content of globalization should be an important element in the content system of courses. The scales, laws, fields and methodology of original course systems are facing the task of innovation. Thus, it is necessary to probe and construct new theoretical content system of urban geography courses compatible with the 21st Century. With the System Principle, this paper perfects and innovates the new content system of urban geography courses. Finally, through case studies of the globalization's impact on the economic development of Guangzhou city, on one hand, it emphasizes on the importance of globalization to the cities; on the other hand, it furtherly illuminates the importance of the reformation on the course content and system.
