The dissertation based on the historical material discusses the abstract art which consists of De Stijl, Rayonnism, Suprematism, Constructivism and Cubism. Opinions of Phenomenology and Psychology are applied to analysis the concept and visual language of abstract art. Through analyzing the concept and visual language of abstract art influence on architecture, summarize two views of the concept reduce of the Modernism design and two routes influence on architectural of abstract art. Today the abstract art continues to influence the theory and practice of architects and this kind of trend have already become an important developing direction.The thesis consists of four parts. In the first part, it has mainly introduced the background of the society at the beginning of the 20th century , the development of abstract art and main school.The second part would apply opinions of Phenomenology and Psychology to analysis the concept and visual language of abstract art.The third part mainly together with the thought and works of Modernism architects, from concept and visual language respect analyzes the influence on modernism architecture of abstract art, summarize the view of the concept reduce of Modernism design.The last part mainly discusses the influence on contemporary architecture of abstract art.The abstract art have great influences on Modernism and contemporary architecture, but the research do in this fields in our country is comparatively scattered, so the author hope the dissertation will help Chinese architects to understand the close relationship between abstract art and architecture, So as to promote Chinese architects to draw the achievement on abstract art.
