Visual culture study is an emerging field of contemporary cultural studies, which is mainly focusing on'vision'as the core of culture study. This dissertation is based on visual culture as interpretation, to observe, analyze and research from the Renaissance to the development of modern and contemporary architecture. The purpose of dissertation is to study the change of visual concept and the relationship between art and architecture for clues, using reproduction to non-reproduction as the visual observation tool, to research on the concept and consciousness concerning'visual'of how it serve as and inner strength which effect on the performance of architecture design, aesthetic principles and knowledge construction. Through the case studies, it reveals how modern architecture return from the visual center and the aesthetic principle to the specific nature of the building, which move to a more multi-dimensional and contemporary visual awareness based on the creation of form.As the study based on the architectural'history of ideas'of the visual culture, this study has theoretical value and research significance in three aspects. The first is from the angles of 'vision'to unfold the body of the architecture, which is significant to explore the origin, leading to definite and enrich the architecture creation as an independent and autonomy discipline that has its own content and pattern. At the same time, as the transformation of visual concept represents the development of modernity, the historical development of Western architecture is a kind of response to the representative of visual concept, also a response to the deputy of modern abstract characteristic. Clarifying this clue can help us to produce and create our own Vision Culture keywords and proposition which identify contemporary Chinese character in the global coordinate system, accordingly, analyzing the internal mechanism of visual-concept can study the effect and role play by the design concept, design tools, design objects, and etc. in the ream of architectural knowledge, so that could restore architecture to construction knowledge and ways of thinking, in the mean time to provide positive instruction to the architecture education. As the study following the paradigm from the concept to practice, which is inspiring to creative design, this study has a very positive practice guidance and practical significance.Introducing the results of the study of visual culture into the building is a new theory orientation and research issues. In this paper, using comprehensive, interdisciplinary comparative as research methods, starting from case study, considering the architecture and paintings as represent of the visual arts, fully using the existing research material and research results to build a common analysis and comments platform, which can serve the innovative research in the following three aspect:architectural history and theory, art history and related art theory and visual culture research. These three aspects cover considerable areas of expertise and time span and also undertake a study of art history and visual culture in the forefront of academic thinking. Using'history of ideas' research as the material to re-analysis and rewriting to some degree that conforming the architectural history and theory of innovation and development.Through the historical analysis, this paper researches from the Renaissance perspective to the contemporary reproduction of the'simulacra'; studies the development of visual concepts from closure to openness, from static to dynamic state, from one-way to a multi-dimension, from the shelter into a transparent and etc; combs the form and aesthetic principles of genre to outline the modernity of architecture and the overall context and the likely future trends. On this basis, this paper extends the above conclusions that reveal the resistance from the perception and experience doctrine to the visual center. And by the ideas of its own contradictions and complexity of the composition of contemporary consciousness, we can have a clearer notice under this new architecture trend:only after establishing a full understanding of the contemporary visual culture context and mechanisms, our architectural practice can truly future-oriented and world-admitted.
