Short pier shear wall have been widely used in the structure of high-rise building in recent years. As a structure transition from the special shape column frame and the conventional shear wall structure, short pier shear wall can satisfy with the desire of the stiffness and bearing capacity as the shear wall, otherwise, it can solve the problem of the conventional frame whose beam and column always prominent the wall plan. As the special shaped column , short pier shear wall structure usually use the cross section of T, L,十and so on. However, a few of experiments have been carried out to test the seismic behavior of these short pier shear wall exterior joints and the anchorage behavior of the beam bars reaching into the joints.Based on 4 low cyclic reversed tests for beam, wall and board combination of T shape short pier shear wall exterior joints after the beam bars yield, the following researches and analyses have been done in this paper: comprehensive seismic behavior of these joints, the anti-shear capacity of stirrup in the joints, the contribution of flange to the anti-shear capacity ,and the anti-shear capacity of these joints when they are designed by the formulas of Concrete Special Shaped Column Structure which has been inspected.The following main conclusions have been made in this paper by the test results and analysis:Firstly, it is conservative for short pier shear wall exterior joints to be designed by the formulas of Concrete Special Shaped Column Structure. The controlling condition of the formulas may be relaxed, and the upper limit of shear-compression ratio may be augmented to about 0.23 which has been advised in this paper .Secondly, it is un-isochronous for the anti-shear capacity of the flange and beam. The great mass of the shear is beard by the beam at the prophase of load ,while the flange will bear mostly of the shear at the ending of load after the concrete of beam has been seriously damaged result in declining of the stiffness of beam, and a widely declining crack is appeared on the flange and so much as the flange will be destroyed. So the contribution of flange to the anti-shear of beam has the characteristic of lag.Finally, the shear wall is so thin that the condition of beam bars reaching into the joints is bad because of the beam bars and the wall bars intersect with themselves together when it is compared with the frame structure joints. So the slip of beam bars, the deflection due to slip of beam bars reaching into joint in proportion to total deflection of end of beam is large.
