In this paper, mechanical properties of three types of the small-open monolithic shear walll, coupled shear wall and wall-frame had been analyzed. From this, a new type of reasonable short-pier shear wall had been proposed, which overcomed the weakness of the limited clear distance between various wall limbs in small-open monolithic shear walls and traditional coupled shear walls, and conquersed the shortcoming of much higher coupling beams in wall-frames. Besides, the rational practical proposal had been advanced for practical engineering design.In this paper, to improve the seismic capability of short-pie shear wall, the concealed barcings had been installed in the short-pier shear wall. The ductility of the short-pie shear wall before and after installing concealed barcings had been analyzed, the formula of the composite elastic modulus ( Er ) of oblique compression region of this wall had been derived, the curve of moment-curvature (M-φ) and load - displacement (P-δ) had been drawed out, further the influence of axial compression ratio, shear span ratio and reinforcement ratio of concealed bracings on the ductility had been analyzed. Finally, on the basis of ensuring sufficient ductility of the wall, the minimum reinforcement ratio (ρxv.min) of concealed bracings had been presented.Based on principles of static and dynamic elastoplastic analysis, elastoplastic properties of a 12-floor double short-pie shear wall had been analyzed, and the factor of seismic capacity and the curvature of peak displacement time history before and after installing concealed bracings had been compared respectively. The results show that the aseismic capability improved markedly after installing concealed bracings.Finally, according to above analysis, the proposals for seismic design had been advanced for the references to seismic design.
