With the continuous development of high-storey in actual engineering, especially in some high residence buildings, special shaped column structure is adopted on request of the market, but it can hardly satisfy the requests of axial load ratio and anti-side stiflhess in the aspect of the mechanical performance. Hence a short pier shear wall structure appeared. The structure is popular in market not only because it has such advantage of the special shaped column structure as increasing indoor using area, being convenient for the decoration , and making indoor environment look more beautiful etc.,but also because it can satisfy the requests of axial load ratio and anti-side stiffness. Although the short pier shear wall structure has been widely used,the domestic and international research work is mainly concentrated on the seismic behavior of the short pier. The study on joint of the short pier wall is relatively less for both its diversity of form and complexity of mechanics performance.By the 3 low cyclic loading tests for beam-wall combinations of R.C.interior joints which is designed according to Technical Specification of Concrete Special Shaped Column Structure,the following researches and analyses have been done in this paper: comprehensive seismic behavior of these joints;the confine of stirrups in the joints;the contribution of flange to the anti-shear capacity of joints. And in all the 3 tests, we must ensure that the cyclic loading is loaded after the beam bars yield.The following main conclusions have been made in this paper by the tests and analysis:â‘ The anti-shear formula of special shaped column joint is fit for short pier shear wall joints. These joints of short pier shear wall designed according to that formula have such ductile ability which can satisfy the ductility requirement to make sure that the joint shearing failure doesn't take place in combination body when a big earthquake happened.â‘¡The anti-shear capacity of the flange of joints will be gradually exerted after the damage of the web of joints is serious or the shear deformation of it is relatively large. The contribution of flange to the anti-shear of joints has the characteristic of lag. Therefore this contribution should be reasonably estimated. And the design provision of the effect of the flange of joints in Technical Specification of Concrete Special Shaped Column Structure is feasible for joints of the short pier shear wall structure.â‘¢The web stirrups take a predominant part in resisting the shear of joint.
