Along with quick development of modern science and technology, the requirement for machines'work capacity is improving. Pulse-type stepless transmission is widely developed and applied. Overrunning clutch as output mechanism of pulse-type stepless transmission is friction roller-type mainly. Because roller and output shaft contact with a higher pair, surface of output shaft appears groove mark obviously when repeated driving. Overrunning clutch is a weak link in transmission chain of pulse-type stepless transmission and constricts directly the ability of transferring capacity. So developing a new overrunning clutch is required to improve bearing capacity and transmission efficiency.The paper designs a lower pair and one-way overrunning clutch. Because its arc-block, outer ring, roller, slide-block and output shaft contact by lower pairs, they overcome higher pairs'shortcomings such as wearing easily, bad resistance to impact, bad bearing capacity and so on. The paper introduces its work principle, analyzes self-locking, transmission capacity, work loss and compares it with roller overrunning clutch. Generally considering the size, self-locking capacity and other constraint conditions of new overrunning clutch, an optimizing design is adopted. Build finite element models for key transmission parts of overrunning clutch and analyze their mode and strength.Make transmission parts of lower pair and one-way overrunning clutch with spark machining. It is difficult to self-lock when common overrunning clutches work. After designing oil ditches on the surface of its arc-block, increase friction factor and make sure self-lock which solves above problem. Do qualitative analysis to lower pair and one-way overrunning clutch and inner star-wheel-roller overrunning clutch by using self-made lever loader. The experiment shows: on the same condition, the deformation of new overrunning clutch's surface contact with lower pair is smaller than the deformation of roller overrunning clutch's line contact with higher pair and new overrunning clutch's skid angle is smaller.The paper puts forward an eccentric speed-regulating pulse-type stepless transmission and introduces its work principle.
