As the modern small satellite technique developing quickly, the Multifunctional Structure(MFS)technique is come out. The MFS technique is a new designed method of deep space detector. The method was developed by Lockheed Martin Astronautics. In this way, all chassis, cables and connectors are eliminated. The electronic, structure and thermal control are integrated in the"wall"of the spacecraft. The MFS approach offers significant savings in mass, volume and increase the payload.This paper mainly discussed the MFS technique applied to deep space detector.This paper introduced the concept of MFS first. Then introduce the key techniques of MFS: the MCM technique, the advanced composite technique, the electric connection technique, and the thermal control technique. Then determine the target of this paper.This paper studied the theory of honeycomb structure which inlay component in it. To use the macro-mechanics theory and the composite-mechanics theory analysed the honeycomb structure, and get the equivalent parameter of the honeycomb structure. Then discuss the stress concentration problem of the honeycomb structure to use the model of"laminated composite structure with circular hole. Then discuss the thermal control technique of the MFS, and built the model of heat transfer.In the emulation task, I did the work of the stress concentration problem of the honeycomb structure. By doing the emulation task, I hope to get the result of such questions: what are the influenced factors of the stress concentration on the honeycomb structure. This paper discussed the factors: the shape of the hole, the size of the hole, the magnitude of the loads, and the distance of the two holes.In the end, I designed a simplex model of the MFS. This paper introduced the process of the design. This model was made by other materials, which is not the real composite. Although the model I designed is not a real MFS, the way of MFS method could be externalized perfectly.
