Innumerable reinforced concrete structures in industry area and tropical marine atmosphere is decayed by chlorides and can not reach the service life. Furthermore, concrete carbonation is one of the main factors resulting in durability damage of reinforced concrete structures. These structures decayed not only need to throw in a great deal of funds to carry on protecting, maintaining and reforming, but also bring the transportation inconvenience and result in bad society influence. The reinforced concrete structure anti-corrosion problem has already developed to become heat problem and aroused extremely concern. The corrosion of steel reinforcement in concrete is caused by carbonation of concrete or by the presence of chloride ions or similar aggressive species. Chloride-induced corrosion of reinforcement is one of the major causes of deterioration leading to a reduced service life of reinforced concrete structures. The corrosion behavior of reinforcing steel bars depends on the protective oxide film that forms on its surface. The subsequent rate of corrosion depends on the availability of oxygen and water near the interface, and is thus a function of the permeability of the concrete protecting the steel. In addition, the environmental regime plays a major role, with alternate wetting and drying being one of the most severe conditions. One of the measures that can be taken to improve the durability of a concrete structure is to increase the resistance of concrete to permeation of chloride ions by giving the concrete a coat of protective coating. concrete protective coating can offer protection against corrosion. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of concrete protective coatings and the damage to galvanized steel on reinforcement corrosion in chloride-contaminated concrete. Another means of protection will include coating reinforcement with zinc (galvanized steel). Hot-dip galvanizing is one of the most important zinc-coating processes used to produce structure with a dense matrix and low permeability, and these factors can offer protection against corrosion.1. Rapid Chloride Ion Penetration Test (RCPT) was performed according to ASTM C1202-91. The relationship between the current passed and the time elapsed during testing for the concrete with protective coaling is portrayed. The current passing through...
