In this paper, the trap of coal transportation control System which is applied to a power plant in Nanjing is researched and realized. This control system is based on a new controller which is called Programmable Automation Controller (PAC). PAC combines the functionality of a PC and reliability of a PLC. It is a very important trend for the future development of the Industrial Control. The following work has been done in this paper:1) Researched the characteristics of each control system which is based on PLC , PC and PAC;2) Designed the whole coal transportation control system and the method of hardware realization;3) Design the trap of coal transportation control system's electric theory and wiring diagram;4) Researched the characteristics of the Rockwell SMC Dialog Plus soft start controller and its 1203-GK5 communication module;5) Researched and analyzed a fieldbus protocol which is very popular at present:DeviceNet;6) Realized the DeviceNet protocol in PAC of this kind at home for the first time through the research on the example of the soft start controller with SLC series PLC;7) Designed the programme of coal transportation control system in LabVIEW8.0. The whole control system based on PAC which includes the control of electromotor, digital signal, video monitoring, two serial ports communication interfaces for electronic balance and the function of saving and printing important parameters and so on.
