As the fast development of automobile industry, resources exhausting and environment pollution have become the most serious problem that people care about. In order to solve this problem, many countries have mapped out the related policies and laws to promote the development of Electric Vehicle (EV). In our country, "Development of EV" has been racked as the special key project of "863" in "the tenth five-year" on November of 2001, and on June of 2004, counterpart has been write into"The Police of Automobile Industry Development"again. EV is now becoming one of the developing trends of the automobile industry.Electric vehicle can be classified into two categories- purely electrical vehicle and Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV). Because of its high cost and technical obstacles of battery, the development of purely electrical vehicle has not achieved an expectation goal presently. In contrast, Hybrid Electric Vehicle, using a combination of an engine and electric motor, has the potential of improving fuel economy and emissions by operating the engine in the optinum effciency range. Thus, HEV has been considered as the most promising alternative to conventional vehicle in the next decade. It is the background of this paper.This work comes from the project "Researching and Development of YEMA HEV ", which is supported by Sichuan Automobile Industry Group. The aim of this project is to motify YEMA into a hybrid electric vehicle. This paper introduces the motor driven propulsion system and develops the CAN bus communicate system .
