For pressure vessels in service, there usually exist a lot of common or serious defects at certain degree. How to deal with these defects has been paid most attention during their practical application. The traditional way is to compute detected data manually, and then assess the state of safety based on the computed results. Because of various formula, complicated computation, large amount of work and high demand for workers, the traditional way has just computed the result of assessment for single defect. It did not carry out further analysis and comprehensively analyze and deal with the historical data. Therefore, it is necessary and feasible to manage large historical detected data by database and based on this, build assessing decision support system for defects.In this paper, we carried out research on the Overall Design of Pressure Vessel Defects Database and Assessing Decision Support System to the above demand. According to"The Pressure Vessel Defects Assessment Norm"(CVDA-84),"The Safety Assessment Regulation of The Pressure Vessel in Service"(SAPV-95) and"The Safety Assessment Criterion of The Pressure Vessel in Service"(GB-2005), based on computer technique, database technique, fuzzing mathematics, expert knowledge and information technique, a database for defects has been set up.
