For the historical reason of technique and management,there are poor fabrication quality and severe defects in earlier pressure vessels and pressure pipes.It is the key point of the inspection activity that how to give a scientific safety assessment to guarantee safe operation.With the development of fracture mechanics,the application of ‘fitness for service' principle in safety assessment for in-service structure containing defects is wide spread.The release of national standard GB/T 19624-2004 Safety assessment for in-service pressure vessels containing defects provided the criteria for the safety assessment.However,the requirement of high knowledge and complex calculation for normal engineers made it difficult use.For the purpose of alleviating the workload and increasing productivity,the paper developed safety assessment system of pressure vessel and pressure pipe containing defects based on GB/T 19624-2004 using Visual Studio 2015 software development platform and Visual Basic.net language.The main work had been done is as follows:(1)Summarize the basic theory of fracture mechanics and the develop history of safety assessment of pressure vessel containing defects.(2)Finish function module of plane defect simplified assessment,normal assessment and pressure pipe simplified assessment.(3)Compare the assessment result of manual calculation and software calculation using the same case.(4)Encapsulate the details of the assessment.Users just input the parameters of the defect,then could get the result.
