Floating cranes, which is a kind of engineer vessels, is widely used in cargo handling at harbor, as well as harbor building, naval architecture, bridge construction, salvage and every kind of ocean engineering. Presently, for its flexibility in working and reliability of maneuver, revolving floating cranes gradually become the key of the hoisting equipment of occean egineering and its safe reliability is the first problem faced in the assurance of the ocean engineering construction. To count this issue, research on stability of revolving floating cranes is carried out with Visual C++ and OpenGL graphic library for safe problem during its working in this paper. Here are the main contents in the paper:First, the regulations of CCS, BV and DNV concerning the security of carne ship are introduced in detail and their differences are provided and discussed.Second, based on the working characteristic of floating cranes, the models of the hull and the crane are built on including the body free movement in water and the boom rotary motion comparatively. The system can realtime monitor the changes of the boom rotary and ship flooding condition including heel, pitch, stem draft, bow draft and so on. Mathematical models of moving postures and ship rolling by the shock force moment are established.Third, based on the principle of stability calculation, the simulation and real time system for operation stability of revolving floating cranes is developed. The system include two functions: (1) based on cargo weight and working radius, the best load plan can be quikly find before working, porviding theoretical foundation for safety operation,(2) along with rotary motion of the boom during the working, realtime stability calculation and display of flotation are realized, providing realtime monitoring.At last, taking 1700t revolving floating crane for example, the preconcerted functions of this system are realized by the calculation of some typical loading conditions. By analysis of the calculation results, some suggestions are given.
