The compound utilization of renewable energy resources is an effective way both to the sustainable development strategy practice and enviromental protection in our country. Solar and wind energy are two kinds of widely used renewable resources which are of complementary characteristics both in resourece condition and technical application. In the society taking power energy as main comsuption, to establish a generating system by wind and solar hybrid is an economic and reasonable way. In regions far away from power transmission network, wind/solar hybrid generation plays an active role. Generally it is necessary to add some energy-saving steps in the system such as battery or super capacitor for the random and intermittence feature of the wind and solar energy to meet the requirment of stable and continous power comsuption in daily life and production. There are many things to be studied in the system, such as optimal unit sizing and operational control of the wind/solar hybrid system, MPPT control, the autimatic following control to the sun in PV generation, direct current supply by battery and inverse alternating current supply of battery. The paper is of following characteristics: (1). Carry on the research on battery charging and discharging control by the wind/solar hybrid generation system; (2) Realize the control to battery intelligent charging and discharging through the adjustmen to the system software by using PIC16F874 single chip computer as control chip; (3) it embodies better reliability and flexibility compared with the former controller consisted of simulating separating element; (4). it is favourable for the sreiation of the product to promote the industrialization and marketization of wind/solar energy, and supplies the necessary condition for the final developing and using of wind/solar energy. However, there are lots of other factors affect the control effect for the complicated structure of the wind/solar hybrid generaton system, thinking about these factors, the paper emphasises only on the research of battery charging and discharging control system of wind/solar hybrid on the basis of the economy and reliability of using battery as energy reservation in the system. If considering the high operating efficiency, the controlling system need further perfection.The paper makes some valuable suggestion which can help to perfect the control system in the further research.
