The city appearance and the civic culture inheritance are the major problem which in the present landscape design and needs to be paid attention. In our mind there is a city, it often by image and so on street, public space, building combines in the visual psychology but becomes. Along with society's development, and the city renewal, many cities which have the glorious history have been charged by the massive modern elements.Then it causes the spirits losing with makings draining, also creates the phenomenon called "the city to lose recalls". Modern people's life style compared before has had the radical change. In order to continue the original characteristic and the appearance of the city,the landscape designers,plan designers and the architects have to face the present situation which is filled with contradiction and challenge.By drawing up from the city block landscape,from the block construction, the public art, the public facility, terrain landform these four aspects ,this thesis analyzes and studise the constitution of the block landscape and also the influence which it gives to the city landscape. In view of civic culture inheritance and retention,it trys to discover which causes the problem that many cities look the same by contrasting the renewal.Also along with the protection of some overseas historical cities and refering to some execellnt domestic design block cases.Then find the way to solve those problems. Enable the blocks to have the region characteristics by completing the design and the making development of the main constituent which belongs to the block landscape. From this, it is the development and extending of the city's memory.
