In the 1980s, intelligent buildings began to appear in U.S.A and Japan. By the end of the 1980s, great developments of intelligent buildings have been witnessed in China. In the 21th century, intelligent buildings are going to be the main trend of the development of large buildings. The research work is aimed at the problems of network connection and information integration in building automation system which is one of the important parts of intelligent buildings.Firstly, in the thesis, the linkage control function of two representative intelligent subsystems in building automation system is analysed as a complete unit in detail. Then, the two main communication technologies—LonWorks and BACnet in the building automation system are analysed in depth. The application advantages of LonWorks and BACnet are summarized. A network connection model which is used to connect LON based on LonWorks to BACnet's network is proposed. BACnet's network is the trunk network of this model. To solve the problems occurred when connecting LON to BACnet, a LonWorks-BACnet gateway solution based on neuron chip is proposed. This solution solves the problems of mapping between BACnet's data link layer frame structure and LonWorks's application layer. At last, considering the heterogeneity problem of the databases designed for the intelligent subsystems in building automation system, the information integration frame of Java and XML based heterogeneous database system is studied in depth.
