With the speedly developing of the economy in China, the engineering projects based on the soft soil are also developed rapidly. It becomes more and more a vital problem that how we can design and schedule reasonably in a soft soil engineering in the condition that certain work time and certain settlement after construction must be satisfied. And the only way to solve the problem is the settlement prediction.Research about settlement prediction has been carried out broadly and profoundly by the scholars all over the world, which as a result gains a lot. But the mechanism of the soil settlement is very complicated since the settlement is influenced by the loading and the soil properties are so complexed. The methods for predicting foundation settlement in existence are always limited by the simplified presumptive conditions, which as a result causes the inconsistence between the calculated and the observed value. It is necessary to make more profound research in the field of settlement prediction.This paper which relies on the research of the test section of the soft foundation of the Ji-Feng highway (K59+560~K65+550). Through analyzing the in-situ datum such as total settlement, layered settlement, lateral displacement and pore water pressure, we mastered the actual deformation behavior of soft foundation, and specially approved the chronicity of the lateral displacement in the soft foundation. Because of the complexity of the soft foundation's plastic flow, it is much difficult to calculate the additional settlement caused by the plastic flow well and truly. So, the engineers often forecast the final settlement basing on the measured settlement curve. The general methods to forecast the soft foundation's final settlement which base on the measured settlement curve are exponential curve method, logarithmic curve method, etc. The gray theory is used for forecasting the soft foundation's final settlement in this paper, and the cubic B-spline function is used to make the original datum to be same spatio-temporal, and the buffered softening arithmetic is used to eliminate the infinite increase of the gray forecasting model to increase the forecasting precision.
