Pedestrian traffic is the main part of urban traffic system, especially at intersections where the pedestrian is very crowded. Many conflicts exist among pedestrians, vehicles and non-motorized vehicles, which results in the decrease of capacity, the increase of pedestrian delay, and badly affects traffic running efficiency at signalized intersection. In addition, from the prospect of traffic safety, pedestrian is easy to be injured in traffic accidents. Thus, how to deal with pedestrian crossing traffic at signalized intersection better and solve pedestrian-vehicle conflict effectively is one of the keys for ensuring rapid traffic running at intersection.Taking four-leg signalized intersection composing of major and minor road as study object, through analyzing pedestrian traffic characteristics, aiming at solving pedestrian traffic problems, this paper studies pedestrian traffic organization methods and proposes the applicability of every method.First, the paper studies the distribution disciplines of pedestrian speed and speed values under different conditions, which will be applied in later researches. Then, it analyzes the objective reasons of pedestrian violating traffic laws, demonstrates two existing pedestrian traffic problems, namely inadequate pedestrian green time resulting in unavoidable law violation and conflict of pedestrian and right-turn vehicles interfering normal traffic running. Aiming at solving the problem of inadequate pedestrian green time, the paper studies pedestrian twice-cross method, discusses the setting of twice-crosswalk and pedestrian phase design, quantitative analyzes twice-cross benefits, acknowledges the effect on vehicle and pedestrian delays before and after setting twice-cross of major and minor volume ratio, traffic volume, and lane number, and proposes the condition of setting twice-cross.Aiming at solving the problem of the conflict of pedestrian and right-turn vehicles, the paper studies right-turn signalized control, discusses the method of right-turn signalized controlled, establishes right-turn vehicle and pedestrian delay models, also quantitative analyzes the setting condition of right-turn signal,...
