Setting electronic indicators at bus stations and releasing bus operation information can acknowledge bus passengers with bus operation situation, so that bus passengers can easily choose their travel manners, bus service level can be enhanced, and more passengers will be attracted to use public transportation method. In this way, traffic congestion can be eased and air pollution and energy consumption can be reduced. This paper refers to the Intelligent Transportation System project of Harbin, sets up collection and dissemination system of bus operation information, researches on the contents and methods of the collection and dissemination of bus operation information, and establishes the model for predicting bus travel time.This paper sets up collection and dissemination system of bus operation information. The function of the system is to disseminate realtime bus travel time information etc via electronic indicators at bus stations. The software and hardware components of the system and the function of each component in the system are researched. The operation process of the system is designed.Contents and methods of the collection and dissemination of bus operation information are researched. According to the demand of bus passengers, contents of information collection and dissemination are determined;On the basis of studying various modern techniques for information collection and transmission, methods for information collection and dissemination are researched.A model for predicting bus travel time is established. This paper analyzes the composition and influence factors of bus travel time, establishes a multi-regression model for predicting bus travel time between neighbor bus stops;Through bus location, the first bus that will arrive at each stop can be searched and its travel time needed for reaching the stop can be forecasted.Taking No. 8 and No. 63 transit lines of Harbin as examples, the system is simulated.
