This topic roots the item from laboratory of tank drive for national defence. Hydraulic torque converter & retarder is a hydrokinetic machine which has the function of both the hydraulic torque converter and hydraulic retarder. First, it can predigest the structure, save the space for original hydraulic retarder, raise the power density of actuating system; Second, since the hydraulic torque converter and hydraulic retarder use one hydraulic system, it can reduce the accessory system and predigest the control. Hydraulic torque converter & retarder has the advantages of torque converter and hydraulic retarder, at the same time overcome their shortages. Therefore, it has important meanings for the research of the converter& retarder of hydraulic torque to improve the vehicle speed change system.Static characteristic equation is established on the basis of one-dimensional flow theory with fundamental mode been told. By calculation for blade angle's of the pump wheel, turbine and guide wheel, and then influence of each blade angle's change to dragging mode hydraulic torque converter & retarder are found. Making use of fminsearch function of Matlab, optimize six blade angles. Blade angles are educed. Analyse the service behaviour of dragging and braking mode of hydraulic torque converter & retarde, and the transition process of dragging mode to braking mode.Based on the analysis of static characteristic, dynamic hydraulic torque equations are educed according to force analysis of micro-dimension liquid that passes though flow path of torque converter's turbine in random moment. In the status of having mass load of vehicle during braking process, the mathematics model of hydraulic torque converter & retarde and its load is educed considering mechanism moment inertia of impeller and liquid inertia. Making use of Simulink emulating software of Matlab, emulation studay is made in order to simulate the vehicle braking process in the status of partial filling and full filling of the hydraulic torque converter & retarde.
